Day One – I Want to Stop Seeing Silence

I am awake, I am alive, and as I contemplate this latest lockdown and just how much of our lives have moved “online”, I cannot help but once again ponder what I would REALLY love to see …

Every single time someone posts a racist joke, picture, or comment on social media, I would love to see that post FLOODED with people pointing out how unacceptable the post is. Not mildly but BLATANTLY calling it out so that it stops, because silence is acceptance and we have to stop accepting this crap!

Each time a black woman or man or an Indigenous woman or man post and that post is met with racist backlash simply because of who the poster is, I would LOVE to see the original post FLOODED with support and encouragement so that the poster knows they are not alone in this battle AND I want to see the racist comments in the thread FLOODED with backlash announcing NOT ACCEPTABLE!

In short, I want to stop seeing silence. I want to stop seeing racist comments left to stand, polluting our air, creating environments that kill and maim and injure.

I want to stop seeing silence … because is as deadly as it is deafening.

I love you!
HUGSSSSSSSSSS
