Start with this One Positive and Empowering Creation Conversation!

I am awake, I am alive, and the more I think about it, the more I believe … we need to have the conversation at creation.

Before the corporation exists, before the the business license, before the dating becomes an engagement, let’s have the culture conversation. And by that, I mean, what is the culture of our environment going to be?

Is this new environment open to, accepting of, and actively seeking out diverse opinion from all areas of the community?

How are the individuals within and the entity as a whole going to actively dismantle racism, homophobia, transphobia, ageism, sexism and the like or are you?

It is 2021 and these questions have to be asked, those conversations have to be had, because the cold, hard truth is that you are not an ally if your partner, co-worker, or boss isn’t. You are not a supporter, if your environment is not a safe space. And you are not part of the solution, even if you are only passively take part in being the problem.

Such conversations may not create more understanding and more safe spaces for us, but they do establish culture and what is or isn’t important in the entity or relationship you are creating. And they just might minimize the number of people who falsely claim they are in our corner.

Because if we can’t see you, then you are not.
