Day 133 – A Facebook Flashback

I am awake, I am alive and this morning I smiled as Facebook showed me a post from so long ago, one worth sharing again.

An excerpt from my first book. Enjoy! And please remember …

I love you. Hugssssssss

The Speech …

She knows this speech is long overdue so she smiles as she chooses her words.

“You know, I love you. We have been through a lot together and I didn’t always like what you had to say. Honestly, sometimes you were downright mean to me. You judged or condemned the way I looked or the way I acted, without restraint and … it hurt, but we have come a long way since then and I am glad.”

“Nowadays, I can count on you for your honesty. You don’t lie to me but you don’t come down on me either and some days … well, some days you even compliment me and I love that. Even more, I love that you remind me of my strength, of my intelligence, and of my determination. You remind me that confusion is not proof of my stupidity but rather simply proof of my lack of knowledge on whatever topic I am struggling with. You remind me who I should talk to, or who I should call, or whether I just need to take time to think. You make me smile with your silly thoughts and ideas and more often than not, you make me laugh out loud when no one else is around. I love our private jokes, for they are a testament to just how much we have been through and how far we have come.”

“Yes, you are my friend, and I love that I can say that!” And with that she turns away from the mirror and sets out to attack the day, smiling at the thought that she is finally her own best friend.
