I am awake, I am alive, and you … are not a threat. And you have no idea how liberating it is to say that!

For you see, I have been fighting my entire life.

Fighting to be who they wanted me to be – the teachers, the parents, the boyfriends, the bosses.

Then fighting to be me in spite of them.

Fighting to remember who the hell I was.

Then fighting to stay in spite of mentor and boyfriends and friends and colleagues.

Until today, until now, until this moment in time when I FINALLY realize YOU were never the threat – not you my teacher, not my parents, not my boyfriend (not any of them), not my boss (not any of them), not my mentors or friends or colleagues because YOU never had the power to change me.

Only I had that power … even when I blamed you.

So, this is me, just me, ever evolving, always improving but now a woman who completely understands that any change is my choice, as it always has been, and that is SO liberating to say.

No victims my friend. Just us, beautiful us, making choices.

Make better choices today my friend. Don’t wait as long as I did.
