Day 22 – The Privilege of Healing

I am awake, I am alive, and as I savour my first sips of caffeine, I reflect on the last 24, recognizing again just how much of a privilege healing is.

Many wouldn’t think of it that way. Those with the luxury of time and disposable income attend therapy sessions, schedule spa dates, and relax on beaches during safer times. They see healing as essential, even their “right” and in many ways, they are healthier for it.

Yet, many others do not have the time or coins to consider it. They are overworked, underpaid and/or under-appreciated. They have kids to feed, bills to pay, and laundry to get to. “Talking about it won’t change nothing!’” they exclaim, between washing dishes and chasing toddlers.

And then there’s folks like me. Kids grown. Bills paid. With all the time in the world to heal and so I do. One revelation at a time. Often one blog post at a time and my readers have witnessed that healing. Thank you for that, but know, I am far from done.

For like those mentioned above, I was once a master of burying hurt so I could work to provide for my kids. Now walls around a silent home whisper, “it’s time”.

My question is simply – is it yours?

I love you!
